Over 13 years ago, I became involved with an organization called Camp Quality, a camp for children with cancer. Little did I know how much that decision would change my life.
Like many people I know, cancer has also touched my family, and I’ve seen and met countless children who have lived with and bravely battled cancer. And through the years, I’ve heard and experienced stories of hope and inspiration. In fact, five years ago I was inspired by an incredible young lady, Alicia Denoon, who I met my first year at Camp Quality (and who is now in her first year university!) to buy my first road bike.
This September, for 18 days and with 35 other cyclists and crew, I will be embarking in the biggest cycling event in my life, riding across Canada from Vancouver to Halifax, stopping at many of the kids’ cancer centres throughout our great country. While increasing awareness about paediatric cancer, we will be raising essential funds for research and support programs.

IMAGINE creating a world beyond kids cancer, while improving survival rates and quality of life for Canadian children living with and beyond cancer!!
In February, I was in Cuba to start my in saddle training for this ride. On my third day of cycling, my bike and I had a ‘date’ with a pile of rocks. As painful as the fall was, I couldn’t help but think that a bad day on the bike was better than the best day for a child dealing with cancer.
I’m so very grateful for all the support and encouragement shared by so many people, and am excited to put my heart and energy into this important cause. But I need your help to raise much-needed funds for this cause. My minimum fundraising requirement is $15,000; my goal is to raise $25,000. 100% of your donation is receipted and 100% goes directly towards this important cause. 100%!!!
This September, when I strap on my cycle shoes for this cross country journey, I’ll be riding in honour and memory of my brave warrior Mom who is my inspiration in life and for this ride, for family and friends who are battling cancer right now, and for every child and parent who has lived with and heard the words “your child has cancer”.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation, for the many children and families serviced by the programs you will help fund.
Together, and with your donations and support, we will improve the quality of life for children, and their families, living with and beyond cancer.
